Emmons, of Washington, N.J., received the Best of Show Award at the annual Pennsylvania College of Technology Food Show for a two-tier cake she created in the Cakes and Decorations course.</span></span>Williamsport -&nbsp;Works by baking and pastry arts students at Pennsylvania College of Technology were auctioned to raise more than $1,600 for Greater Lycoming Habitat for Humanity during the School of Hospitality's annual Food Show on Dec. 4.</p>
<p>The centerpiece of the fundraising effort was a silent auction of 12 chocolate houses created by students in the Principles of Chocolate Works course. <div id="_mcePaste">The team members consisted of seniors Tyler Hutson and Megan Runyon and juniors Dan Cassidy, Bethany Herring and Emily Hopko. Their presentation was part of a semester-long assignment for Dr. Neil Boyd's organization and management class in which students were divided into consulting firms and assigned to work with a local non-profit group to plan, organize and carry out a project or event.</div>

<p>Olletta M. Alford was 33 years old when she died of gunshot wounds suffered in a criminal incident in Williamsport in July. Raised in Newark, N.J., Alford had moved to Williamsport to break out of the cycle of poverty and to give herself and her children a chance at a more prosperous life.</p>
<p>Morton B.
