Lycoming football hosts 20th Annual Warrior Youth Camp

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The intramural fields at Lycoming College were busy this week as the football team hosted its 20th Annual Warrior Youth Camp, as the four-day session wrapped up on July 29. Around 60 children from second to ninth grade came out to the camp that featured football instruction and games.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Lycoming College hosted its Ninth Annual Linemen’s Challenge at the Robert L. Shangraw Athletic Complex on Saturday, July 24. Ten teams from all around Pennsylvania came to compete against each other in 10 different competitions. The camp was led by Warrior offense line coach Drew DiGiacinto, who received help from several other coaches and more than 30 current Lycoming players.

DiGiacinto opened the day with a teaching clinic on defensive line play, using several Warrior linemen to demonstrate technique and drills.

WOLnews PhotoWILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Lycoming College head football coach Mike Clark announced three additions to the coaching staff for the 2010 season. Former Davidson wide receiver Chris Monfiletto joins the staff as a quarterback coach and passing game coordinator, former Bucknell defensive coordinator Andrew Cohen is the new linebackers coach while former Jersey Shore assistant coach Dave Becker is an assistant offensive line coach.

“I am very excited about these three coaches joining our staff,” Clark said. “They are all outstanding teachers and we are fortunate to have them here. Chris and Andrew are both outstanding recruiters and this group helps round out what I believe is the best coaching staff during my tenure as head coach.”

Football: Lycoming Announces Incoming Football Class

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – After losing two-year starting quarterback Colin Dwyer along with starting wide receiver Brad Shellenberger, it’s may come as no surprise that the Lycoming College football incoming class loads up at the two positions, with head coach Mike Clark announcing that four wide receivers and two quarterbacks will join the squad in preseason camp. The 2010 Warriors will feature at least 29 freshmen, including three defensive backs, five defensive linemen to offset the loss of three starters at the position, eight linebackers. Offensively, the squad will feature two freshman linemen, two new quarterbacks, two rookie running backs, a tight end and the four wide-outs. In addition, the team will also welcome two kickers.

Football: Lycoming Coaches Lend Hand For Lauren’s First And Goal

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Lycoming College football head coach Mike Clark and assistant coach Drew DiGiacinto lent a hand on Sunday, June 6 at Lauren’s First And Goal Football Camp at Lafayette College. The two coaches were a part of a camp that had more than 250 volunteer coaches and nearly 1,700 high school football players that were brought together by Lafayette College assistant coach John Loose in support of brain tumor research and cancer services, to offer financial and emotional support to families living with pediatric cancer, and to increase awareness of the disease.

Both Lycoming coaches helped coach the offensive lineman at the camp, which was first started in 2004 by Coach Loose in an effort to raise money and awareness for pediatric cancer in honor of his daughter, Lauren, a 13-year-old pediatric brain tumor survivor.

Warrior football lands six all-conference players

ANNVILLE, Pa . --- In a release from the Middle Atlantic Conferences, six Lycoming College football players have been named to the all-conference teams, including one first-team and five second-team selections.

Anthony Marascio
Sophomore defensive lineman Anthony Marascio (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) was named to the first-team All-Middle Atlantic Conference after anchoring one of the top rush defenses in the league. Marascio finished the season with 76 tackles, ranking him sixth in the conference. He had 38 tackles both solo and assisted, averaging 7.6 stops per game. Marscio also tallied one touchdown to help Lycoming seal a 24-21 victory over King’s College.
