The materials included a locally developed pink card that points out if even one person is unbuckled in a traffic crash, he or she can become a 'flying elephant' and injure or kill other persons in the same vehicle.  This seat belt educational effort is part of PennDOT's current Click It or Ticket education and enforcement wave, and is also part of Operation Safe Holiday.

PPL Electric Utilities Corporation, a PPL subsidiary, on Friday also declared the following quarterly dividends on its preferred stock and preference stock, payable Jan. 1, 2010, to shareowners of record as of Dec. 10, 2009.

Each depositary share represents a ¼ interest in a share of the preference stock. Accordingly, holders of record of the depositary shares will receive a dividend equal to ¼ of the dividend paid on the preference stock.

Last spring, LCUW allocated $921,815 to 40 programs partners throughout Lycoming County.

“The numbers don’t lie,” said Dr. Oscar Knade, Lycoming County United Way 2009 campaign chair. “Although LCUW provided more funds to programs last year than the prior year, the program partners’ needs for funding exceeded the amount we had to allocate by $108,000. Even in a good year, our volunteers have difficult decisions to make on how best to allocate the funds to the most critical needs. ”
